As the internet has evolved creative entrepreneurs and active innovators have been developing new uses for this exploding technology. A great example is movie downloading. In a few short years the online movie industry has become a huge and growing industry.

Years ago people started exchanging music files online, but with movies the file was just too big. As the internet speeds started to increase this started to change. Then with clever program designs, like BiTorrent, movie download times became reasonable, and they have become very popular.

So providing a person with a BitTorrent, for example, would be no different than providing a person with a car. If that person used that car to make a getaway during a robbery, that would not make the sale of the car illegal.

Netflix, the number one online movie rental store has added movie download concepts to its means of movie access for its members. You can watch unlimited movies from a 12,000 film library on your computer (or TV through an Xbox 360 live account) through instant access movie download streams. This is a company using downloads to its advantage.

Other companies like Amazon are now selling movie titles through a download format. This means no more trips to the video store, just fire up the computer and make your purchase for immediate download. The video store may become obsolete.

Once you have your movie download on your computer it is wise to transfer the movie to free up your hard drive. You can store movies on an external hard drive, or burn them to DVDs so you can watch them anywhere. This looks to be the wave of the future.

When you start to look at movie download sites make sure you do some good research if you go away from the big names. It is easy to wind up with downloads that are poor quality and not pleasant to watch. Don’t get stuck with a bad group of movie downloads, do your home work.

We are right in the middle of the growth of the movie download industry. Stay alert for more good options for movie downloads. Faster downloads and better prices are probably just around the corner.
