The Affordable Touch Screen Phone
While top of the line smartphones may be dominating the market there is still a place for lesser equipped cell phones. Realistically everybody wont need or ever use every feature found on the iPhone or even a BlackBerry. These people need a functional cell phone at an affordable price. One such phone is the LG Neon. It is a simple phone with additional functions that is sure to please the regular consumer intimidated by the price and features of the iPhone.
The LG Neon is a very stylish looking phone. There are no harsh lines and the phone has smooth rounded edges. The Neon is very smooth and sleek to the touch. The phone isnt very heavy either, which is apparent from the phones small size. The sliding mechanism is works well and when the phone is fully open and it doesnt feel shaky or vulnerable at all. The phone has many options for customizing the font. The LG Neon features a great little touch screen, but unfortunately its only purpose is for dialing numbers. The touch screen is quite responsive but it feels as if more time should have been spent developing it more for other uses. Housed inside the slide compartment is the full QWERTY keyboard. The key pad is very spacious and is not cramped at all. Allowing for easy messaging the Neon is able to link up many instant messengers and email systems like AOL, AIM, Windows Live Messenger, and Yahoo Messenger.
The camera found on the LG Neon actually takes decent photos. There are numerous settings and image option controls such as three quality settings, five white balance presets, five color effects, 4x zoom, self-timer, and three shutter tones including a silent option. There is no flash so make sure any picture you would like to take is in a well lit area. Otherwise the pictures will appear grey and foggy. Other than that the actual picture quality is pretty decent. The camera can also record video in unfortunately only two resolutions. Recording onto a Micro SD card will allow users to record longer videos.
The phone lacks any 3G or Wi-Fi support meaning downloading songs and content will take quite a while. It was so slow it took 12 minutes to download a 1MB song. The web browsing also suffers it can be very slow as well; websites take quite a while to load.
The call quality on the phone was great. There was no interference during the calls and no static whatsoever. The microphone on the phone is great at isolating the callers voice and the person on the other end will be able to understand you quite well. The speakerphone didnt work so well. Anyone on the other end will sound low despite the volume options. Additionally listening to music on the speakerphones will sound low too. If you want to use the LG Neon as a music player you should purchase a pair of headphones.
If you are looking for an affordable phone with a small list of great features then the LG Neon is the perfect phone for you. It is a nice looking phone with a simple array of great features.
